Research Areas:

Elena Parkerson graduated from Carleton College in 2025 with a B.A. in Mathematics, where I worked with Rika Anderson to study microbial communities in deep sea hydrothermal vents. In 2024, I conducted research at the Santa Fe Institute, where I modeled bacteriophage infections in the surface ocean. I joined the Weitz group as a data analyst for the SCIMaP project. I’m broadly interested in using quantitative methods to understand global infectious disease dynamics and human health. In my free time, I like to run, hike, go backpacking, and read books.
