The group recently officially welcomed Tapan Goel, a new postdoctoral researcher. Tapan is a biophysicist broadly interested in how complex behaviors emerge in biological systems from relatively simple “inter-particle” interactions. To answer this question, Tapan uses tools from non-linear dynamics and statistical physics. In the Weitz Group, Tapan will be working to develop models of […]
The group welcomes two new Ph.D. students
We are delighted to announce that the Weitz Grouprecently officially welcomed two Ph.D. students, Akash Arani and Raunak Dey. Akash is a first-year Quantitative Biosciences Ph.D. student in the School of Biological Sciences, while Raunak is a second-year Physics Ph.D. student. Learn more about Akash and Raunak.
The group welcomes Siya Xie
The group recently officially welcomed first-year Quantitative Biosciences Ph.D. student Siya Xie. Siya is excited to begin research focusing the factors influencing the stoichiometric characteristics of marine bacteria, such as the carbon to nitrogen ratio in genome and proteins. She is also investigating the genomic mutations affecting bacterial susceptibility to viral infection and designing a […]
The group welcomes Jeremy Seurat
Dr. Jeremy Seurat joins our group as a postdoctoral researcher. Seurat joins us from the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale, or the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, where he completed is Ph.D. in biostatistics and biomathematics. Welcome Jeremy!
The group welcomes Gabi Steinbach
Dr. Gabi Steinbach joins our group as the new Scientific Project Coordinator and Data Communications Specialist. Steinbach joins us from her former position as a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Physics at Georgia Tech. We are also excited for our former Scientific Project Coordinator and Data Communications Specialist, Dr. Jessica Irons, as she moves […]
The Weitz Group welcomes three summer REU students
The Weitz Group is excited to welcome three REU students to Georgia Tech this summer. To learn about our new group members, we asked them to answer questions about their experiences and hopes for the future. Welcome, Sophia, Isimeme, and Caitlin. Sophia Ellis is a junior and a Biology Major at Spelman College. She’ll work […]
The group welcomes Audra Davidson
Audra Davidson joined the group to help with science communication and our Emory serological testing initiatives.
The group welcomes Dr. Jacopo Marchi
Dr. Jacopo Marchi joined the Weitz Group where he’ll work to advance bacteriophage therapy research. He’s a recent graduate from the department of Physics at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris.
We welcome Dr. Jessica Irons to the group
Dr. Jessica Irons joined the Weitz Group as the Scientific Project Coordinator & Data Communications Specialist. She has a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Georgia where she studied microbial metabolism of Salmonella enterica, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Campylobacter jejuni.
We welcome King to our group
We are delighted to welcome King (Quan) Nguyen, an undergraduate in the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering department with a minor in Computational Data Analysis (Data Science), to the group.
