Anastasios Marantos, Ph.D.

Anastasios Marantos holds a PhD in Biophysics from the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. His research focuses on quantitative microbial ecology and evolution, utilizing a broad range of approaches from theoretical modeling to hands-on experimentation. Since his initial visit in fall 2022, Anastasios has collaborated with the Weitz group on research exploring microbial dormancy and its effects on phage-bacteria dynamics. He officially joined the group as a short-term Postdoctoral Associate in fall 2024.
