A new paper authored by Prof. Joshua Weitz and led by former graduate student, now postdoctoral researcher at the Plant Health Institute de Montpellier, Dr. Marian Dominguez-Mirazo is published in Science Advances. The study, in collaboration with group of Prof. Debbie Lindell, investigates how much variability exists from one infection to another in marine cyanobacteria – and builds a mathematical framework that connects differences at the individual cell level with population-level measurements. Accounting for these variations could lead to improvements in model predictions of infection dynamics and ultimately lead to improvements in treatments against bacterial infections.
